Back at it!

Right now I´m on Madeira, a Portuguese island outside the coast of Africa, prepping for next weeks European Tour event here. Earlier this week I played the first Ecco Tour Winter Series event at PGA Catalunya outside of Girona in Spain.

My game wasn´t quite there and I struggled on the greens to shoot a combined score of +1. The good thing was that I played the tournament to get ready for next weeks´ event here on Madeira, so the result was not my main priority. I feel like I got a good grip on where my game is at and what areas I need to work on to get ready. I´ve spent the last 3 days here working on a lot of shortgame and getting a few extra holes in on the course.

Standing at the clubhouse looking down towards the ocean is quite the view. I feel like I might as well be on the island where they shot the Jurassic Park movies. The course is played with a lot of height differences on every shot, I don´t think there is a single hole that isn´t played either downhill or uphill. It´s gonna be a challenge judging the distances with so much slope difference on every shot but I´m looking forward to a great week here. The event is co-sanctioned European Tour and Challenge Tour so this will mark my first event on my primary tour this year. The hotel we´re staying this week is Pestana Casino Park Hotel in Funchal, so regardless of how I play this week I can count on leaving with a few extra bucks from playing poker (which of course is a sure thing:) ). More updates coming soon!
